What is this build trying to do?

Choose movement and formation flexibility first; add healing or banners only when the party can afford the setup. Plan attacks around allies’ likely final positions, rather than asking everybody to rebuild their turn around yours.

This is a role-based strategy framework. It does not claim to be a verified level-by-level digital card, equipment or perk list. Check the current digital card text before making an irreversible selection.

How do you set up a repeatable turn?

  1. Identify the ally who can stay near the next formation target.
  2. Move into a position that completes the required pattern without blocking the passage.
  3. Use the formation, then preserve an alternative attack or movement for the next round.

Keep a dependable ally near your intended attack position. Explain the formation you need before a teammate commits to movement, then preserve an escape hex after attacking. A flexible movement card is often worth more than a stronger attack that cannot be positioned.

Which cards should you prioritize?

Split your hand between formations you can satisfy with one dependable ally, a movement/reposition package and a small support package. Hail of Spears is a digitally confirmed multi-target option; the patch notes explicitly connect its target count to adjacent banner summons. Plan whether you can keep those banners in the relevant space before building around it. Bolstering Shout and Set for Charge are confirmed digital cards worth inspecting for the movement-and-attack sequence, rather than choosing every high-damage formation.

Compare a candidate card against the job your current hand cannot accomplish: reaching a useful hex, making the primary attack legal, surviving the next enemy action or recovering a disrupted turn. Avoid upgrading a number while losing the only action that keeps the sequence reliable. Exact level selections remain subject to digital Codex verification.

How should equipment and perks support the plan?

Prioritize reaching the correct formation hex over a generic damage boost. Defensive gear is useful if you are the hero who must hold that hex. Confirm that any attack item supports multi-target attacks before purchasing it for Hail of Spears.

For an exploration-focused hand, inspect Into the Breach and consider whether the party wants you opening doors. For a static formation hand, favor accuracy and repeatable contribution over a perk tied to a job another hero performs.

What should you change when the plan fails?

A banner is an ally for some interactions but also occupies a tactically important position. A plan that needs several adjacent banners can congest the doorway and leave the spear or a teammate unable to attack.

Identify whether the failure was positioning, timing, a resource shortage or a party mismatch before replacing the entire hand. Record a change and test it over another expedition rather than changing several decisions at once.

Which references help with this build?

Start with the Banner Spear class reference, use party composition to assign allies’ roles, and revisit card economy when the party exhausts before completing its objective.

Evidence boundary: Digital starter identity verified; strategy is editorial and tabletop-informed, not a tested 1.0 card list.
